Advantages of Galvanized Coils

1.The advantages of galvanized coils are mainly reflected in three aspects:

anti-corrosion performance, processing performance and long-term economic benefits.

2.Anti-corrosion performance: The galvanized layer forms a protective film of zinc oxide/zinc carbonate through the principle of preferred corrosion by sacrificial anodes, effectively isolating the steel substrate from contact with corrosive media.

3.When the thickness of the hot-dip galvanized coating is ≥45μm, the corrosion rate under salt spray test is ≤1μm/ year, and the corrosion resistance life is 5 to 10 times longer than that of ordinary steel coils.

4.Processing performance: The galvanized coating does not affect the cold bending, stamping and welding performance of the base material, but the die gap (coating thickness +0.02mm) needs to be controlled to avoid zinc coating peeling. The galvanizing process slightly increases the yield strength (about 5-10 mpa) without affecting the low-temperature toughness.

5.Economic benefits: The full life cycle cost of galvanized steel coils is 30-50% lower than that of ordinary steel coils. Although the unit price of materials is about 15-30% higher (for example, Q235 galvanized steel coil is about 4,800 yuan per ton), the cost of anti-corrosion maintenance is significantly saved and the service life is extended by 3-5 times.
